Female leadership: Women and power

Financing: €14,222

The main objective of this study is to make a diagnosis of the main barriers to access the summit, and the actions undertaken to promote or not, other women to these positions. Senior executives of the financial and telecommunications sector will be analyzed, also female politicians, detailing in order of importance the factors that have enabled (or inhibited) their transition and how they work their networks or lobby to help other women to also access higher positions.

Goals

The main objective of this study is to make a diagnosis of the main barriers to access the summit, and the actions undertaken to promote or not, other women to these positions.

  • To detect in each case, where the “glass ceiling” appears.
  • To investigate what training activities have been conducted over the last three years coinciding with the expansion and multinationalization in companies for internal staff promotion and coaching processes with the same purpose.
  • What are the prevailing negative emotions (fear, basic anxieties, fantasies, etc.) of women at the prospect of a promotion and a position with high power.
  • What are the basic positive emotions in terms of promotion (development of creativity, counting and developing a team, traveling, higher income, authority and independence, etc.).
  • What it is their attitude towards power and authority, taking into account the role they had in their family of origin. We see the power in their organization and its effects in and out of it.
  • Detecting what were the family messages in relation with ambition and career development.
  • Detecting the predominant behaviors in each gender in a crisis environment.

Senior executives of the financial and telecommunications sector will be analyzed, also female politicians, detailing in order of importance the factors that have enabled (or inhibited) their transition and how they work their networks or lobby to help other women to also access higher positions.

A comparison of male managers (non-politicians) will be carried out to know what behaviors are prevalent in a similar situation.
