Dr. José Antonio Gurpegui is Senior Professor of American Literature at the Universidad de Alcalá. He was Visiting Scholar at Harvard University from 1994 to 1996, and he is Fellow of the Matthiessen Room of that University. He has published several books in houses such as Cátedra, Espasa-Calpe, Huerga y Fierro, Duke University Press, University of Iowa Press, Bilingüal Press, etc. Some of his titles are John Steinbeck: escribir en el edén (2006), Narrativa chicana: nuevas propuestas analíticas (2003) andHistoria crítica de la novela norteamericana (2001). He has edited Interpreting the New Millenium (2008), Mark Twain: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (2007), Edgar Allan Poe: Narración de Arthur Gordon Pym (2001) and Puritanos y liberales en la Norteamérica de los siglos XVII y XVIII (2000). In addition, he writes in El Mundo and has recently joined El Confidencial.com team of columnists.

Dr. Isabel Durán is Full Professor of American Literature at the Universidad Complutense (Madrid, Spain). She was the Associate Dean of the School of Philology (2006-2010) and Vice-president of SAAS (Spanish Association for American Studies) until 2009. Recipient of two Fulbright grants, she was a member of the General Council of ASA (American Studies Association) from 2008 to 2011 and is at present a member of the Steering Committee of IABA Europe (The International Auto/Biography Association). She has lectured in many European and American Universities. Her research and publication record on gender studies, literature, autobiography and ethnicity include the edition of a seven-volume Women’s Studies collection (the last one being Diferencia, (des)igualdad y justicia / Differences, (In)Equality and Justice. 2010), following her book Autobiografía: versiones femeninas en la literatura norteamericana del siglo XX. Her interest in transnational/transatlantic studies is evidenced in her edited book Miradas Transatlánticas/Transatlantic Vistas (2011).
