Industrial Engineer by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and MBA by the University of Southern California. 

He currently serves as an advisor to Anticipa Real Estate (Blackstone), Chairman of the Advisory Board of SAP España, Senior Advisor for Spain and Portugal at Blackstone, Senior Advisor for Spain and Portugal at Natixis, S.A., Advisor to Hispania, S.A., Honorary Chairman of the Círculo de Empresarios (Businessmen's Circle), member of the Board of Trustees of the Créate Foundation, member of the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce in Spain (AmChamSpain), and member of the Board of Trustees of the Plan International Spain Foundation.

Throughout his career, he has worked in the Finance Department of Banco de Bilbao (1977-1979), at Dillon Read Overseas Corporation (1979-1983), and as Deputy General Manager, Director of the International Division, and General Manager of Banco de Progreso (Grupo March) (1983-1990). At Lehman Brothers in Spain and Portugal, he held the positions of Managing Director (1990-2004) and Non-Executive Chairman and Senior External Advisor (2000-2006). He has also served as Chairman and Board Member of Abantia-Ticsa (2004), Chairman of the Círculo de Empresarios (2004-2012), Chairman of Aegon España, S.A. (2018-2023), Chairman and Board Member of Holcim España, Chairman of Atlas Capital, Chairman of the Advisory Board of AON-Gil y Carvajal, and Board Member of Grupo Prisa. In addition, he was a member of the Governing Board of the Association for the Progress of Management (Asociación para el Progreso de la Dirección “APD”), a position he relinquished due to statutory reasons (1982-1995).

In 2005, the Official College of Industrial Engineers of Madrid (Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros Industriales de Madrid ) awarded him the honorary mention of Industrial Engineer of the Year.
