Bibian Pérez holds a PhD in English Philology and works as a lecturer in the Department of English, French and German Philology at the University of Oviedo. Her university teaching has mainly focused on teaching English for Specific Purposes at all levels, as well as on Methodology in English language teaching. In 2010, she won the 12th Elisa Pérez Vera Research Prize in Gender Studies (UNED) for a research project on African feminisms. Among her publications, her book Lo lejano y lo bello: feminismos y maternidades africanas a través de su literatura (2012) stands out. She is also the author of chapters in nine books, has presented her research at numerous national and international conferences, lectures and courses, and has also published articles in numerous African and/or literary journals. Bibian Pérez's research activity focuses on Ecocriticism (member of the GIECO-Franklin Institute research group at the University of Alcalá de Henares), the literature of African women writers (member of the GIVA research group, African Voices, at the Complutense University of Madrid) and issues of identity (member of the GRID research group at the University of La Rioja from 2023-2025). Bibian Pérez has also collaborated with the UNESCO Chair (UNESCOUR) at the University of La Rioja during the period she worked at that public institution.
