PhD Dissertation Writing and Defense

The PhD Dissertation consists of a piece of original research written by the doctoral candidate and represents the core of the Research Plan.

It is possible to present the dissertation as a compendium of articles written by the student and published in prestigious journals. The minimum number of articles is three. The Dissertation must include, in addition to the articles, a detailed summary lending coherence to the research represented in the articles, including the central thesis, as well as a chapter of conclusions.

The Program’s Academic Committee is charged with approving the presentation of the Dissertation and completing this form to propose a panel to be named by the Official Postgraduate Studies Committee.

You can access general information about the PhD dissertation here or consult the Guide (PDF) for more details on its format, presentation, and defense.
