6 POSITIONS FOR STUDYING IN USA
These positions are offered to undergraduate students from the Universidad de Alcalá in the field of Arts, Economics and Business, Law and Engineering.

Studies with experience in a lab such as Medicine or Pharmacy are excluded.

Applications will be accepted from November 4th 2019 to February 3rd 2020

The Instituto Universitario de Investigación en Estudios Norteamericanos “Benjamin Franklin” de la Universidad de Alcalá, on basis of the agreement with North American universities, offers the following positions for the fall semester in the academic year 2020 / 2021.
SUNY: STONY BROOK UNIVERSITY in Long Island. (New York State)
6 positions. Tuition waiver is included. Students’ expenses will be approximately 10.000€ per term. For further information about subjects, please, look at the university web page: http://www.stonybrook.edu
REQUIREMENTS:
Students will have to submit an application form to the director of the Instituto Franklin-UAH enclosing the following documents:

  • Registration sheet of the current academic year.
  • Student’s transcript with the grade point average (GPA).
  • Ibt TOEFL exam with the score of 80%. Exams with a lower score than 16% in each of the sections will not be admitted. (Students may have their grade around 20 days after the exam).
  • A bank statement or other financial document, in English, verifying that the student has access to approximately 10,000€.
  • Three recommendation letters in Spanish or English from three professors. Two of them must be written by professors at UAH.
  • Photocopy of DNI and passport (both are mandatory).
  • Resume or CV.
  • Statement of purpose.

PROCEDURE:
Applications must be submitted at Registro del Colegio de San Ildefonso, Plaza de San Diego s/n.

There will be a preselection of all the applications submitted. If necessary, students will have to do an oral interview.

Applications will be evaluated by a commission who will select finalists with final approval by the host Universities. This process will be carried out during the second half of February.

SUNY: Stony Brook University will have the final say over applicants and their submission.

5 positions for a master at Auburn University, Alabama. (EE.UU) in the field of arts.

The Instituto Universitario de Investigación en Estudios Norteamericano “Benjamin Franklin” de la Universidad de Alcalá, on basis of the agreement with Northamerican universities, offers the following positions in the field of arts:

5 positions addressed to students in the field of arts to study a Master in Hispanic Studies as Graduate Teaching Assistant at Auburn University, Alabama. http://www.auburn.edu. The master lasts two academic years 2020 / 2021 – 2021 / 2022 (based on the student’s progress for the academic year) and includes the tuition waiver and a remuneration of approximately $14.400 gross distributed throughout the nine months of the academic year. Students, on their part, will perform tasks such as teaching assistant and shall be responsible for a course in the Department of Spanish. Students will have to pay approximately $1000 per semester for their health insurance and administrative costs.

 

Applications will be submitted from November 4th 2019 till February 3rd 2020

  • Registration sheet of the current academic year. Non-graduate students will have to turn in a certificate saying that they have completed their Bachelor Degree by June 2019.

  • Having studies in the field of arts is mandatory for this lectureship.
  • Ibt TOEFL exams with the score of 80%. Exams with an inferior grade of 23% in conversation and 16% in reading, writing and oral comprehension will not be admitted. (TOEFL results will be given in a month or so).
  • Financial form documenting that the student has access to approximately 3000€.
  • Three recommendation letters in Spanish or English from three professors. Two of them must be written by professors at UAH.
  • Photocopy of DNI and passport (both are mandatory).
  • Curriculum Vitae.
  • Statement of purpose.
  • Non-native speakers might have an oral interview to demonstrate their Spanish level.

A research sample; an academic essay written in Spanish (5 pages minimum) and two mp3 recordings (one spontaneous recording on your personal life, academic interests, etc. and a second one reading a text in Spanish).

The Instituto Universitario de Investigación en Estudios Norteamericanos “Benjamin Franklin” de la Universidad de Alcalá, on basis of the agreement with North American universities, offers the following positions for undergraduate students in the field of arts, economics and business for the Summer Program in SUNY  (Global Summer Institute). Studies with practices in a lab such us Medicine or Pharmacy are excluded.

Students may select from three programs designed to advance their academic and professional goals

  • Global Certificate Program July 9 – July 27, 2018  This program is designed for all international students to experience American culture and become familiar with the American education system. The 3-week program includes lectures in three distinct areas as well as a class focusing on English language skills.
  • Global Academic Program July 9 – August 17, 2018 This program is designed for both newly admitted international students and visiting international students to provide acculturation and academic preparation by taking two 3-credit academic courses. Choose from a diverse selection of courses across multiple academic disciplines. Students are welcome to register for any two 3-credit courses as long as they meet the required prerequisites.
  • Intensive English Program July 9 – August 17, 2018 This program is designed to help international students with their academic English skills, communicative strategies, and intercultural competence. You may enroll full-time in the Intensive English Center to improve your academic English. There is no language proficiency requirement.

  • Students must demonstrate language proficiency. An iBT TOEFL score of 80.
  • Students will be required to apply for a visa. Once the students have been accepted the Visa and Immigration Services office at SUNY will issue their I-20 form, and students will be responsible for obtaining an F-1 visa at the American Embassy prior to arrival.
  • Three recommendation letters in Spanish or English from three professors. Two of them must be written by professors at UAH.
  • Photocopy of DNI and passport (both are mandatory).
  • Curriculum vitae.
  • Statement of purpose.

Costs:

Students will not have to pay for tuition. However, students will be responsible for paying mandatory undergraduate fees. The costs of these will be approximately $240.

The approximate cost of campus housing is $2340. That does not include meals. Students have the option to purchase and cook their own food or utilize a meal plan. Meal plan costs are currently priced between $265-$750, (subject to change) depending on the plan. Additional dining options are available, and can be discussed on a case by case basis.

Health Insurance is required for GSI. The cost of health insurance will be around $217.

Flight tickets are not included

The Instituto Universitario de Investigación en Estudios Norteamericano “Benjamin Franklin” de la Universidad de Alcalá, on basis of the agreement with North American universities, offers through Southern Illinois University the following positions in the field of arts for the academic year 2018/2019 – 2019/2020.

6 positions to study a Master of Arts as Graduate Teaching Assistant at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. The master lasts 4 semesters (based on the student’s progress) and includes the tuition waiver and a remuneration of approximately $12,000 gross distributed throughout the nine months of the academic year. Students will have to pay approximately $1,700 per semester for their health insurance and administrative costs. Students, on their part, will be required to teach two basic Spanish courses a semester.

Students must have studies in the field of Arts and Humanities.
