Dr. Francisco Moreno Fernández

Researcher Member. Full Professor at the Universidad de Alcalá. Department of Philology, Communication and Documentation.

PhD in Hispanic Linguistics by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He has been Academic Director of the Instituto Cervantes (1995-1996), Director of the Instituto Cervantes in Sao Paulo (1998-2001), Chicago (2001-2005) and Harvard University (2013-2018), in addition to Research and Academic Director of the Comillas Foundation (2006-2008). Currently, he is Alexander von Humboldt Professor of Ibero-American Linguistics, Cultural and Social Studies at Heidelberg University. He has published over thirty books, including some widely distributed: Diccionario para la enseñanza de la lengua española (1995), Qué español enseñar (2000, 2007), Principios de sociolingüística y sociología del Lenguaje (1998, 2005), Historia social de las lenguas de España (2005), Demografía de la lengua española (2007, with Jaime Otero), Atlas de la lengua española en el mundo (2007, with Jaime Otero).
