HACU (2007)

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and Instituto Franklin - UAH organized the 7th International Conference of HACU (May 3rd-5th) at the Universidad de Alcalá, Spain. Under the theme, "Hispanic Culture: Celebrating our Heritage", invited American, Spanish and European universities in a dialogue about the future community of Hispanics in the United States in today's Higher Education context.

The Universidad de Alcalá is one of the oldest and most prestigious higher education institutions in Spain and the first in the world to be declared "World Heritage Site", by UNESCO. The City of Alcalá de Henares, birthplace of Miguel de Cervantes, offers an attractive historical and cultural setting for this important exchange of knowledge.

The program included a select group of keynote speakers and symposium speakers who are experts on both sides of the Atlantic. Among the participants, there were chancellors and presidents of universities, high level academic administrators, professors, students, government representatives and private sector participants such as community organizations or other interested parties in Higher Education and Hispanic cultural heritage.
