Introduction to Phonetics

Language / Lengua By the end of this course, students will be able to pronounce correctly, distinguishing the different phonetic patterns and specific differences in regional areas of Spain where the Spanish is spoken. The in class practice, along with the phonetics laboratory, will be accompanied by contact with Spanish native speakers as a means to reach this goal. The syllables, accentuation and the Spanish phonetic alphabet will be studied in depth. For an effective use of the language, students will complete phonetic transcriptions with exercises and explanations.
