Instituto Franklin – UAH presents its new publication, “Loa a un ángel de piel morena”, by Lucha Corpi

This vibrating novel takes place in 1970, with the Chicano movement fighting for civil rights. A child’s dead body lies in a street in East L.A., during one of the most violent socio-political demonstrations in California’s history. The political activist Gloria Damasco discovers the child’s body and faces the fact that her way of perceiving reality is an ‘obscure gift’, which goes beyond the ‘normal’ logic. Two other people are murdered during the next 48 hours. Gloria feels forced to track the murderers’ trail until they are sent to jail. Her investigation leads her from L.A. to San Francisco, introducing her in an international conspiracy, a bloody revenge, and the violent and tragic case conclusion that will take place in Napa.

Lucha Corpi was born in Jáltipan, Veracruz, and in 1964 she emigrated to Berkeley, California, with her husband.
