Master Class with Jazz Pianist Lewis Porter

Instituto Franklin - UAH is collaborating with the organization of a practice workshop with the jazz pianist Lewis Porter, directed to students and enthusiasts of any level. It will take place at the “Escuela de Música Creativa” in Madrid.

This activity is completely free, although 5 euros are required in order to confirm your booking. This 5 euros will be reimbursed the day of the workshop or if the reservation is canceled at least 48 hours in advance. The application period ends on Wednesday, October 28th. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

The workshop will examine the posture and mechanics of playing piano, piano technique, the “pivot system,” and melodic improvisation. To finish the course, Porter will offer a concert to the students.

Instituto Franklin - UAH collaborates with the organization of this master class through its research group “Friends of Thoreau,” along with “Artistas Intérpretes o Ejecutantes” and “Fundación de Música Creativa.”

Lewis Porter is a jazz pianist and a music professor at the University of Rutgers in Newark (United States). Furthermore, Porter is internationally known for his work in writing, especially for his biography, “John Coltrane: His Life and Music.”
